The Day I Met the Future King and other Stories

We are proud to announce the publication of a booklet “The Day I Met the Future King and other Stories”, a collection of short stories and memories from our clients, staff, volunteers and friends.

The Booklet, available from our office for £4, all proceeds will help support our services and has the history of
Shopper-Aide along with a mix of stories from others. Its title is inspired by the story from Danny Byrne, volunteer of the year with the Spirit of Campbeltown Awards, who as a result of Shopper-Aide also gaining the Queens Award for Voluntary Service was chosen along with his Mum to go to the Holyrood Garden Party in 2022 where he met Prince Charles who shortly after became King.

Book for sale £4.00

Other stories include one of the initial Mull of Kintyre Run (MOK Run), Making Memory Books, what happened at the MARC 300 (Millennium and Royal Campbeltown 300 years as a Burgh) day the Royals visited, getting an MBE and a glimpse of what happens on a worldwide cruise.

It is also full of pictures of the adventures and work Shopper-Aide clients, staff and volunteers have been involved in over the years.

We are always looking for ways to help raise funds to provide services for Older People in Kintyre that is in some way different. This provides many memories for not just clients and staff but a history of our organisation and people involved as well as other stories about people’s lives and experiences.
